HDRY TECHNOLOGY’S MATERIALS AND PROCESSES ARE DESIGNED TO PROVIDE THE HIGHEST PERFORMANCE LEVEL, FULLY TESTED FOR DURABILITY IN EXTREME CONDITIONS, AND TO MAINTAIN THEIR CHARACTERISTICS FOR THE ENTIRE LIFETIME OF THE PRODUCT.

Footwear, gloves and backpacks featuring HDry are fully tested for durability in extreme conditions and to confirm it will maintain their characteristics. We continuously cooperate with gear manufacturers for fine tuning and upgrading production process and to verify waterproofness, breathability and comfort meet all the HDry standard requirements:

HOW WE TEST

THE FLEXING TEST

Boots are placed in a water bath and flexed for up to hundreds of thousands of cycles according to SATRA method TM77, simulating walking or running in extreme weather conditions. If the design or materials are not meeting the severe HDry standard, the sensors of the test machine will warn of the presence of humidity in the shoe. In addition, HDry quality standard requires less of 10% shoe weight gain (by absorbed/penetrated water) after the test (according ISO EN 20344 test methods)

THE CENTRIFUGAL TEST

This test, realized according to SATRA method TM444, is based on a centrifuge principle. A sample of footwear is securely placed into a container, which is then filled with water to a known depth. The container is attached to a vertical shaft within the centrifuge and spun rapidly (250 rpm) so that the water in the tank exerts a pressure on the outside of the footwear. The footwear is inspected for water penetration after its period in the centrifuge.. HDry requirements does not allow any water leaks and, also in this case, set a very low limit of weight gain due to water absorption.

THE WICKING TEST

To meet waterproof performance standards, materials in the upper must be non-wicking. All the critical components are tested to ensure there is no risk water is transported into the shoe passing over the HDry membrane.

BREATHABILITY AND
COMFORT TEST

Shoe materials have to meet the highest quality standards of water vapor permeability, as set by the SATRA TM47 testing method. This test simulates better than any other the actual conditions of foot breathability during a sporting activity. SATRA breathing foot (STM567) is then used to determine whole shoe efficiency in maintaining its thermal performance in dry and wet conditions.
